Jim Caldwell: My 50+ Years As an Artist

Screen Shot 2021-05-24 at 4.11.09 PM.png

Born in New York in 1942, Jim Caldwell has spent most of his life in the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated from Williams College in 1964 as an Art Major and spent the next year in Paris studying painting and etching at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He considers this to be the informal start to his career as an artist. Although he is an architect, with a degree in Architecture from Yale, he has been painting almost every day for 40 years. His paintings are now in 475 collections, worldwide. He has taught painting and drawing for 28 years, and for 12 years he has been presenting slide shows of his favorite artists. This presentation is a nostalgic look back at an interesting career.

Jim works in his studio under the redwoods in Woodside.
Although best known for his California Landscapes, Jim has traveled widely and his work includes scenes as diverse as San Giorgio in Venice, and the African cats.
